Atlantic Beach in Condado

Atlantic Beach in Condado, San Juan
Atlantic Beach in Puerto Rico Begins Where La Venta Al Mar Beach Ends
Rainbows are a regular occurance at Atlantic Beach!
Atlantic Beach Puerto Rico aka Playa Condado (Condado Beach) is steps away from many of the luxury hotels including La Concha and Marriott Hotel and others. The sandy beach is popular with local sun worshippers and tourists alike.
Atlantic Beach is also a 5-minute walk from the Condado Tourism Center and bicycle rental at bikerentpuertorico.com.
San Juan is known as "the Gay Capital of the Carribean"
Atlantic Beach is a favorite of the LGBTQ+ Commiunity and Supporters
Of all the Caribbean islands, Puerto Rico is one of the most accepting and LGBTQ-friendly destinations. As an unincorporated territory of the United States, same-sex marriage has been legal since 2015. And with over three million inhabitants, Puerto Rico has plenty of gay and lesbian activities, bars, and attractions for visitors to easily discover. There are even two different pride parades each year on the island!
Atlantic Beach is a Public Beach - No Space is Owned by Hotels or Restaurants
What's the deal with beach chairs and umbrellas?
Many of the hotels offer free access to beach chairs and umbrellas, for guests only. This includes La Concha Resort at La Ventana al Mar Beach and Marriott at Atlantic Beach.
Some restaurants offer access to beach chairs and umbrellas for a fee or for a food and drink purchase for a minimum fee. That’s a great incentive and not a bad deal if you’re already planning to eat and/or drink at that establishment.
There are also beach gear rental vendors onsite that post no license or business registeration. We have never seen them clean a beach chair
Buyer Beware of Onsite Beach Chair Vendors
Are the local beach gear vendors on Atlantic Beach legal?
Great question! There are beach gear rental vendors onsite that post no license or business registeration. We advise tourists and our customers against renting beach gear (or anything) from any vendor that cannot produce a business license with an address, proof of liability insurance, and potentially receipts for ownership of equipment. If the worst happens and there is an accident you will be sorry if no one or no business is legally required to accept responsibility.
Fact, in over a year we have never seen these vendors clean or disinfect a single beach chair. They leave them on the beach overnight creating a potential storm hazard, and a definate eyesore.
Do You Have a Suggestion?
Let Make Hotels, Restaurants and Vendors Pay Thier Fair Share
We suggest a private-public partnership with the City of Condado – Metro San Juan, and the PR National Parks Department. The awarding of the RFP contract will be managed via an open and public Request for Proposal (RFP) process. The winner of the RFP will share revenue with the PR National Parks Department. That revenue should be legally mandated for actual clean-up and structural improvements to the beach. Permanently stationing lifeguards should be considered due to common strong currents and riptides.
Simply, let make the hotels and restaurants and the single legitimate vendor pay a fair share to access the benefits these public assets.

- It’s ALWAYS hot in Old San Juan, so make sure you drink lots of fluids and not just the alcoholic kind.
- If it rains don’t worry, the party will continue and there is bound to be some entrepreneur selling plastic ponchos
- If you need a breather from all the action of the festival, just head down hill through Old San Juan and check out Paseo de La Princesa; it should be a little less crowded there.
- Finally if you have a fear of crowded places, then San Sebastian Street and Old San Juan might not be the best place for you this weekend. Consider heading out away from San Juan for a daytrip.
